You may have been debating what kind of dog to get and finally decided on a Rottweiler. Now you need to decide on which sex of dog to get. Do not assume they are alike; male and female Rottweilers each have their own distinct behavioral traits and their own positives and negatives. Here are some of factors you need to consider when you are picking the sex of your new Rottweiler.

Why get a female Rottweiler?

* One of the best reasons to get a female Rottweiler is the ease at which you will be able to get them trained. A female Rottweiler is less distracted and more focused about what’s going on in front of them, so its easier for you to get their attention and keep it.
* A female won’t fight you when you are trying to train her as a pup. They are also smaller and easier for you to hold when you are training them.

Why not get a female Rottweiler?

* A female Rottweiler will be a picky eater and will want to get attention from you, your family and any other dogs in the house.
* Female Rottweilers also tend to be a bit moody and unpredictable.

Why get a male Rottweiler?

* A male Rottweiler is one of the most outgoing and affectionate dogs out there.
* Unlike the female, the male dog isn’t a picky eater and not very moody.
* The Rottweiler can give you a sense of security that your home and family will be safe because of their ability to scare off anyone.

Why not get a male Rottweiler?

* A male Rottweiler will fight you when getting trained it won’t about easy for you at first.
* A male will want to mark his territory just about anywhere, including inside the house

Weighting the pros and cons of both sexes will help you decide which one is best suited for you.

I have a question. Which sex is more affectionate? I heard that the rottweiler male is always wanting and giving affection, and the female will only come when she wants it and leave when she doesn’t. Is this true?

I think it just depends on the temperment and how you both coincide. My male Rottie follows me room to room, always wants to give kisses. Sorry, but I am not sure about the females.

Our female is very affectionate. She also hates to be left alone, and will follow us from room to room. I have heard that the females are more territorial; although I do not know this to be true.

I have owned both a female american rottweiler and a large german male . I can safely say that my male is much more loving and gentle than the female. Females tend to be alittle more protective and unpredictable.

I purchased a male and he fights like crazy!! anyway we took him back because turns out he missed the kids he was with previously and the breeder never told me that :S anyway the females are way more easier to train then the male. this female will be 125 pounds likely as the parents are very large dogs. any advice?

I have a female and she is very affectionate and always needs attention. She snuggles like a human and she is small for a rotty.
